31 March 2006 - a day of my life to remember forever. Sharing the ups and downs since 30th August 1999, exactly 7 years 7 months, we finally tied the knots. Many family and close friends were there to grace our Marriage Registration. The weather was perfect, sunny and bright, a perfect reflection of my feelings that day.Lai was the first to be there, followed by Maw and Shee Theng, the cat couple. June, mom, dad and ber chek was then seen, with June's camera and props readily available to welcome our guests. Me and Leng started posing for photographs in a place where we met and grew our affection for each other. It's a place of thousand memories - the Buddhist Maha Vihara Temple.
At about 10am, seen Ah Mah, See Kor, See Kor Tiun, Sar Kor and Tuah Kor. The feeling was heavens like, seeing so many people I'd loved attending to a ceremony that begins my life as a married man. There was love in the air and I can feel the aura of love and happiness all around my guests. The guests kept flowing in, Leng's parents, granny, Shew Theng, Fun Liang, Elaine & Siew, Clyde & Shel, Kit Meng, Kee Seng & Sweet Foong, Tai Kang & YY, Albert, Chin Ny, Kiang Mai, Yee Yee, Ah Hoong, Ah Kei... due to Eugene Tham Weng Wah "merajuk", saying I didn't include his name, I hereby announce that Eugene Tham WW did came to the ceremony but was slightly late due to his work obligations. He left at 12pm to catch a flight to Kuching. Thank you this hou heng dai for taking the trouble to come.
At about 10.20am, the registrar were seen inside PH Hendry hall, getting ready for the ceremony. I was very anxious and started shovering people into the hall to be seated. At exactly 10.25am, me and Leng together with the two witnesses, our dads, were seated. The registrar then started his preach, telling us about the procedures and some advices being husband and wife. He was humorous and that has help in calming my nerves. Cameras and flashes were seen behind the registrar. Ber Chek, Hoong, Maw, Shew Theng, June, Fun Liang, they were all snapping away this very special moment. Thank you so much folks!
At about 10.55am, we were officially pronounced as husband and wife. "You may kiss the bride", was the words I've heard many times in dramas and movies. This time, I've been told to kiss my bride, Shew Leng. From that moment on, Shew Leng will be addressed as Mrs. Tan Inn Tat, or Mrs. Ames Tan might sound better. There were some dramas too during the ceremony. The ever soft heartened See Kor, couldn't held her tears, and started crying, and it was obvious it was tears of joy. That shows her love for both me and Leng, and See Kor, we love you too.
After the ceremony, me and Leng turned to our guests and everyone gave us an ovation. We walked through the aisle towards the shrine hall. Reverend Ratana, our spiritual master and teacher, was there getting all ready to give us his and Buddha's blessing. Almost everyone was in the hall. After about 25 minutes of blessing, Reverand gave a speech. He saw me and Leng grew in the temple, and it's from the temple that we've groomed our relationship to become husband and wife. He wants us to carry on with our contribution to the Ti-Ratana Society. Rev. carried on with his speech and as he always does, he'll stop by saying "I'm not going to give you all a sermon", which he already has, we proceeded to dana (offering of food to the Sangha aka monks).
The monks gathered at the temple canteen, at 12pm. There were about 10 monks seated and there grace our beloved Chief Rev. K. Sri Dhammananda. Me and Leng, Ah Ma, Ah Por, Mama, Mom and several others served food to all the monks. While we were doing dana, our fellow guests have been served vegetarian we've catered from Kuan Yin Restaurant. The dana lasted for almost
40 minutes. Me and Leng feeling good, we went back to serve our guests, which by then has helped themselves with second and third serving of food. I am glad everyone liked the food and said it was tasty.
Finally me and Leng got to sit down and enjoy our food, although Leng didn't ate much, we felt really glad that our special day was blessed without much obstacles and most importantly, everyone went home happy. I want to thank all of my parents, Leng's parents, Reverands, aunts and uncles, heng dais and chi muis for attending and grace our special day. Your presence has blessed the event. I shall remember this day for the rest of my life. I sincerely hope you have enjoyed yourself and has worth it taking leave from your work. It's RM200 lost for Wing.
Another special demand by a thick skinned heng dai, Mr. Sean Lai, asking for us to include his "handsome"photo, we have no choice but to allocate some space for this totally unnecessary photo. For your information, especially single females, he is single and is available. Basically like the chinese sayings, he is รค "diamond bachelor". Call Ames now for more information. I am his agent.
